Change the tone or translate

This article shows you how to rewrite text in a different tone and how to translate it into another language.

Change the tone

Highlight your text.
Open More and choose Tone.
Pick a tone.

Bettertext has 16 built-in tones:

Natural, Casual, Gentle, Friendly
Formal, Professional, Warm, Business
Disinterest, Witty, Persuasive, Empathetic
Funny, Exciting, Surprised, Direct

You can also add your own tones.

Change the tone of a result

Most results show a Tone chip next to the title. Pick a tone and the result is rewritten in it as a new version. See Work with results for more on versions.

Translate

Highlight your text.
Open More and choose Translate.
Bettertext translates it into your default language.

You can translate into 26 languages. Hebrew and Arabic display right to left.

Translate into a different language

On a translation, the chip next to the title shows the language. Click it and choose another language.

Set your default language

In Settings, choose your language under Translate to. For other language settings, see Customize the ruler.
