ok so i finally tried writing every morning for 30 days before checking my phone and honestly its kind of changed how my whole day goes, like i get more done and i feel way less scattered, not sure if its just me but id recommend it if you keep putting off writing

honestly just start with a really bad first draft and fix it later, works for me every time i think

Honestly? Give yourself permission to write a terrible first draft. Once something is on the page, fixing it is the easy part. It works for me every time.

What is Bettertext?

Bettertext is text better software for Chrome: an AI writing toolbox that appears over any text you select, so you can improve text, change its tone or write replies on the page you’re on.

How do I use AI to make text better without switching tabs?

Highlight the text, pick an action on the ruler (Improve, Shorten, Reply and more) and keep the result. Nothing to copy into another tab.

Where does Bettertext work?

Anywhere you can select text in Chrome, including Gmail, X, Reddit, Quora, WhatsApp Web and Discord.

Is there a free version?

Yes. The Free plan gives you 5 responses a day, for good, with no payment to start. Premium is unlimited: $12.95/month, or $9.95/month billed annually ($119.40/year).

Which browser do I need?

Bettertext is a Chrome extension. Add it from the Chrome Web Store.

Can Bettertext write without selecting text?

Yes. Click in any text box and press Option+Space (Ctrl+Shift+Space on Windows). Say what to write, press Enter, and Insert puts it where your cursor is. You can change the shortcut, and Cmd+Z undoes it.

Can it answer in another language?

Yes. Pick the language on the reply card: English, Hebrew, Arabic, Thai, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, or the same language as the message.

What are Knowledge and Agents?

Does my agent’s code leave my computer?

Bettertext passes the job to your computer and deletes it when the answer is back. Claude Code runs read-only by default.
